Artist's Comments

This is a fanart of Mercedes Lackey's characters, Vanyel (the dark haired) and Stefen (the redhead), from The Last Herald Mage Trilogy. Their love surviving all their trying times in their life really tugs at my heart. I couldn't seem to find any fanart of this so I made one. If you ever have the chance and you like fantasy books I would recommend reading the trilogy.

Also... this is dedicated to all who are trying to find love through tough times

XD Can't wait to see new pic..

I read all the Valdemar books except for the Crossroads and Fire and Ice anthologies. Hate to tell you this but the Storms trilogy is the one I like least, mainly because it's more politics than adventure. And since when does a little youngish person like politics? :P

At this point, shouldn't the vast majority of Vanyel's hair be white instead of black?

It was at the point of his death, yes. I kind of wanted to present their true selves together... but then Steff would have half his hair in blonde curls as well. Sigh. I must admit I didn't think this picture through when I drew and colored it. Hopefully the newer version will be more accurate to the books.

I'm glad you like it! ^-^ It was so long ago when I drew and colored it, right now I'm working on a new picture with Vanyel and Stef. [link] Hopefully, I'll get that done in time for graduation.
